Local Adventures

Living in beautiful Grey County in southern Ontario, I have so many opportunities for outdoor adventures locally. My summertime focus is kayaking and hiking. The Saugeen River is navigable for over 100km by kayak or canoe and provides fun and challenge for all levels of  paddlers. Several other nearby lakes and rivers make easy flat water excursions. Lake Huron and Georgian Bay are both close by for big water adventures.

The Grey- Bruce area also has wonderful trails for hiking and cycling. The Bruce Trail follows the Niagara Escarpment from Niagara Falls in the south all the way to Tobermory at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula. Section by section we are exploring this amazing route. Paisley has an easy trail that follows the river through town and has some impressive rail trestles.  Rail trail systems are also fun and well maintained.

In the winter we love to ski and spa. Both downhill, usually at Blue Mountain, Collingwood, and cross country provide lots of fresh air, exercise and challenge. From Paisley we have access to several natural and groomed areas for skiing fun. We love to be out and about, especially when it is cold and crisp.

Other favorite winter outings are the hot tubs at The Plunge aquatic centre and the Scandinave Spa at Collingwood. Check their website at www.scandinaveblue.com for a lovely virtual tour. It feels incredibly luxurious but is quite cost effective. Ahhh! A hot water soak outdoors in the snow after a big day on the slopes. Life is good!
